I am currently a second year medical student in the University of Edinburgh. From 2007 to 2011 I studied Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in Trinity College, Dublin and graduated with first class honours and a gold medal. During this degree I was elected as a scholar of Trinity College and following graduation I was awarded the Fredrick Barnes Noble best student prize, the Jeffcott prize and the Maurice F. Fitzgerald prize.
I completed a PhD in biomechanics at Trinity College between 2011 and 2014 examining the mechanics of wound closure for laparoscopic surgery. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Ciaran Simms and was accepted with no corrections by the examiners in August 2014. I also completed a Diploma in Statistics during this time which was awarded with distinction in November 2013.
